Adjei Tawiah was featured in The Whole World Smiles with You, a group exhibition held at Opera Gallery, London, and curated by Alayo Akinkugbe. The exhibition brought together works by a dynamic selection of contemporary Black artists, including Aboudia, Derrick Adams, Amoako Boafo, Chris Ofili, Kehinde Wiley, and others, to explore diverse approaches to figuration in contemporary art. Through the lens of painting, mixed media, and collage, the exhibition interrogated historical narratives and reimagined the Black figure in ways that challenge and expand traditional Western art canons. From direct reconfigurations of iconic artworks to subtle references to classical portraiture, the artists reasserted the presence of Black bodies in spaces they have long been excluded from.In the context of a global reckoning around race and representation following the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, The Whole World Smiles with You emphasized the importance of visibility and voice.
